Congress politician Moosewala was shot and killed in Punjab just days after his protection was trimmed:
Police said that while Moosewala was driving his SUV, he was threatened by an unknown gunman through the window on the driver's side. Two others were in the car with him, and they sped off towards a hospital when Moosewala was shot.
Punjab Director General of Police Viresh Kumar Bhawra said, "Moosewala left his house in Moosa village at around 4:30 pm. Around 5:30 pm, he was driving his jeep accompanied by two persons when two vehicles that had been following him intercepted him and opened fire upon him."
On May 26, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government reduced celebrity politician Moosewala's security team by half because of allegedly much-needed bolstering of the local police force to help prepare them adequately for the annual ghallughara diwas (marked to protest Operation Bluestar).

The Punjab police force has decided to withdraw or reduce the level of security provided to 424 individuals, including religious leaders and retired members of their organization. Among those whose security was reduced or completely withdrawn are officiating Jathedar (Head) of the Akal Takht Giani Harpreet Singh, Head Priest, and Chief Administrative Officer at the Radhasoami Satsang Beas Dera Jalinderpal Singh Khalsa, as well as Sant Niranjan Dass Ji Gurumaa.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Toora from Mansa command has said that on Sunday, Moosewala went missing without his two personal security guards or his bodyguards. They were meant to keep an eye on things.
Vicky Middukhera, the leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, was shot dead at a market in Mohali in August of last year. Police arrested three shooters, one of whom was named Shaganpreet, and identified her as the manager of Moosewala's restaurant located in Mohali's Sector 71. Shaganpreet has been on the run since then.
Goldy Brar, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was under investigation for murder when she put out a Facebook post saying that she had killed Moosewala. Middukhera's death likely had something to do with it all.
On the orders of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Inspector General (Bathinda Range) Tanvir Ikram has been ordered to form an SIT to probe the incident.
Reacting to the tragic death of former Indian cricketer and Congressman Navjot Singh Sidhu, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh twitted on Sunday, "I am deeply saddened by the horrific violation of basic human rights of Sidhu Moosewala… No culprit will be spared… My heartfelt sympathies are with his family and his fans all over the world."
The Punjab Government, in an announcement that has left the state reeling today, said they are planning on imposing a tax on visitors to jails and fortresses. Less than two months after Navjot Singh Sidhu was ousted from his position as Cabinet Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs.
With great fanfare, the Congress party announced that they had selected the famous singer "Moosewala," to run for the seat in their upcoming election. However, when the sitting MLA from Mansa Assembly was informed of this decision and realized he would have to vacate his seat now so Auntie Moosewala could represent Congress in his place, he quickly decided to switch parties because he felt it was time for a change!

The homicide, according to DGP Bhawra, "appears to be the outcome of the inter-gang competition." Moosewala's manager Shagunpreet Singh, who was a suspect in Vicky Middukhera's murder case, appears to have played a significant role in planning and executing the hit."
